In his analysis of the transcription factor that regulates C. elegans molting, Dr. Jordan Ward (UC Santa Cruz) found that NHR-23 is also required for normal spermatogenesis. That finding started a wonderful collaboration between our lab groups.
Dr. Andre Pires daSilva (Univ. of Warwick) first introduced me to Auanema rhodensis, a nematode whose unexpected genetics and distinct way of building a germline continues to present us with delightful and insightful scientific puzzles.
